During his Keynote Speech during the Honoring Ceremony of CSR Awards Abu-Ghazaleh Calls on Businessmen to Adopt a New Vision in Community Service

DOHA - Dar Al Sharq Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee hosted HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), as guest of honor and keynote speaker at the honoring ceremony of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards organized for the 7th consecutive year, under the title: ‘Social Responsibility between Ethical Commitment and Achieving Profitability” .

During the ceremony, held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Qatar Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, winners of CSR Awards were honored by Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, HE Yousef bin Mohamed Al-Othman Fakhroo, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dar Al Sharq Group, HE Sheikh Dr. Khalid Bin Thani Abdullah Al-Thani, and Chairman of Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee at Dar Al Sharq Group, Sheikh Dr. Thani bin Ali Al Thani.

In his keynote speech, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh affirmed that the corporate social responsibility is not a charity but a duty by those concerned to pay back to community which embraced them and provided all required facilities for them to succeed. 

Furthermore, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh called for adopting a new vision in serving the community based on the principle that businessmen and corporates have commitment and debt towards the society that has to be paid back, saying that social responsibility is one of  the economic balance tools in society and that’s the purpose for its introduction . 

He also added that companies may conduct CSR through supporting charity institutions, adopting projects that build capacities of the community noting that such an approach was adopted by TAG.Global through Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Foundation (TAG-Foundation). Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh affirmed that TAG.Global has allocated 50% of its annual profits to support its charity institution, TAG-Foundation, which carries out dozens of programs in various fields along with more than 500 training programs to community members through more than 110 offices around the world. 

At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh was honored as  guest of honor and keynote speaker in addition to a ten companies, institutions and individuals who won the CSR award for 2019 as well as eight supportive and sponsoring bodies.
